Model T Ford Magnolene Oil Sign - 1920s Enamel sign This sign is an original double-sided sign from an old service station of the 1920s. This old enamel sign was attached to the side of the building and advertised the Magnolene oil for the Model T Ford. It reads on both sides "Magnolene, MOTOR OIL FOR FORDS REDUCES VIBRATION, FOR SALE HERE". Like a lot of the advertising of the era the sign promotes the capability of the oil for reducing the "chatter" and vibration associated with the transmission bands used in the Model T. The small writing under Magnolene reads "REG.U.S. PAT. OFF.". The sign is a royal blue colour with white writing. It has a vertical bracket at one end (at right angles to the sign ) which was used to attach the sign to the sign of the building. The sign is made from a heavy gauge steel and is a heavy, robust sign weighing approximately 3.5 kg. A rare advertising sign from the era that would suit the Model T Ford enthusiast or collector of automobile memorabilia. Makes a very nice display item and great talking point! Size: The sign measures approximately 22" X 16". Condition: Used Rating (3 out of 5) This sign is in original unrestored condition and is in reasonable condition for its age, having obviously been exposed to the elements at a service station for a long period. It has some patches of rusted areas on both sides of the sign. As shown in the photos there is quite a lot of wear to the original enamel surface are quite a few areas where the enamel has chipped off or worn away. The attachment area also has some rust but is still in a good state to hang as the drill holes for attachment are not compromised by weakness at all.
