Brief Specifications of Henry Ford's 1896 Quadricycle


Chassis:           Steel frame attached to four bicycle wheels (no body)

Steering:          Tiller steering

Engine:             2 cylinder 4 stroke gasoline engine (approx 4 HP)
                        Bore:  2 1/2 inches    Stroke: 6 inches

Transmission:
.    Power transmitted to countershaft to rear wheels by chain
                              2 speeds (10 and 20 mph) No reverse
                              clutch - pulley on transmission belt. To stop the car the clutch had to     
                              be released and the foot brake applied
