Model T Ford Wooden Gasoline Gauge
Description: This is an wooden ruler that was manufactured for the purpose of measuring the remaining petrol in the Model T fuel tank. Because the Model T Fords had the petrol tank under the front seat and no petrol gauge a number of companies in the early 1900s produced these wooden advertising gauges. On one side they have the measuring scale in gallons for the petrol tank and on the other side they have advertising for the company. These were produced by a wide variety of oil companies, service stations etc and were usually given away to Model T owners when they purchased a product or visited a local service agent. This one has advertising on one side for Gulf gasoline. On the other side it is marked "FOR FORD CARS" and "Gasoline gauge" and has the scales for the Model T round, oval and square tanks in gallons. An interesting old Model T collectable and still a useful item to carry around in the model T. Condition: Used Rating: (4 out of 5) This one has survived in quite good condition - the wood has darkened somewhat with age and has some dirty marks but the writing and measuring scales are still very clear as shown in the photos. There are some minor gouges in the wood but it is still in good order with no splits. It measures approx 17 inches in length and a little over 1 inch in width.
