Description:
This is an original Ford tool that was made for the Model T Ford. The tool was designed to be used on the nuts that adjusted the transmission bands and was an improvement over the open-ended transmission tool (T-1917) included the tool kit because this one is designed so that the transmission band can be adjusted without the tool continually coming off the nut. It is stamped with the Ford script, the 5-Z-324 tool number and the tool makers mark. The z tools were manufactured by the Ford Motor Company for use in the Ford dealerships and workshops as part of an effort to standardise the repair and servicing of the Model T. The tools could also be purchased by owners of Model T Fords. The 5-Z prefix dates the tool after 1921 - works on Model Ts of all years. This was a very useful tool in its time and these are still sought after by modern owners of the Model T.

The tool is in excellent condition for its age - the ratchet mechanism works smoothly and there are only minor surface scratches, minor dings & the original plating is worn in places.
